This week's Monday Piece is on gaming in Tokyo! Every busy street has at least one gaming building that's usually huge and multi level, where you can play grab machines, race fake horses, pachinko and slot, and of course pretty much everything in between because... It's Japan, a country full of gaming lovers! Today Nick and I spent the day gaming in Ueno and after many tries and lots of Yen, he won me this little guy - they make all the prices way too cute so you have to keep trying until you win... Definitely make time for a bit of gaming if you get the chance in Tokyo :).

The Monday Piece - Gunma Prefecture Scenery
This week's Monday Piece is on Gunma Prefecture scenery! This weekend I've been at Summer camp in the beautiful luscious greenery of Gunma Prefecture, we stayed at a traditional resort nestled in one of the many valleys of Gunma where the scenery is so beautiful. Gunma is about 4 hours from Tokyo so it was refreshing to escape the city and enjoy the nature with students and friends, there's such an abundance of wildlife and creatures too including bears, snakes and everything in between!

The Monday Piece - Tokyo National Museum
This week's Monday Piece is on Tokyo National Museum! On Saturday I spent the day with friends escaping the very hot Tokyo streets, instead enjoying the offerings of the Tokyo National Museum. At only 600 Yen (less than £4.00) to get in it's a bargain as there are multiple buildings and gardens to explore - we saw a vast collection of Japanese art and history from multiple eras, as well as Asian art from Korea and China including calligraphy, statues and beautiful ceramics. During the humid Summer months it's an ideal place to go as it's not overcrowded, there are lots of different collections and usually limited edition exhibitions, and there's strong air con throughout which is a deal breaker! A definite Tokyo must do :)

The Monday Piece - My Top Shopping Area in Tokyo
This weeks Monday Piece is on my top shopping area in Tokyo! It's no surprise that there is an absolute plethora of places to shop in Tokyo, whether it's for budget, high street, vintage or boutique fashion there is every thing everywhere, so it can be a little overwhelming when coming to the city to pick maybe just one place to shop - after all, there is so much to see and do in Tokyo you'll want to do more than just shop. BUT, after spending many man hours hunting down shops, department stores and tucked away side streets (you can thank me later), I have a firm top spot...Harajuku. World famous for its quirky fashion, Harajuku Girls and neon bright lights, Harajuku has it all - from the famous Takeshita Street where you can pick up budget items, cute fashion pieces, Lolita clothing and everything in between, to the back streets filled with limited edition sneaker stores and vintage fashion, it's a one stop shop for every thing you could ever desire! And there are heaps of delicious eateries too, the must try Harajuku food is crepes and they are seriously tasty!

The Monday Piece - Breizh Creperie Tokyo
This week's Monday Piece is on Breizh Creperie Tokyo! More food chat again in the form of gluten free goodness, I'm always compelled to write about tasty restaurants that do gluten free food as at first I found it really difficult finding those options in Tokyo. Breizh have a few branches across the city so jump in TripAdvisor if you're ever in search of a delicious buckwheat pancake as their maps come in so handy. The savoury galettes are so delicious and the menu is huge too featuring lots of traditional French options as well as a few locally inspired ingredients. They also do sweet crepes for pudding, gluten free options too, which feature everything from rhubarb jam to Chantilly cream and roasted chestnuts! I recommend the branch in Harajuku/Omotesando, it's great service and in an awesome spot for a day of shopping too :).
