The Monday Piece - Gas Street Social Event
This week's Monday Piece is on Gas Street Social! Recently Nick and I attended the Gas Street Social launch party event in Birmingham, located in The Mailbox it's only a five minute walk from New Street train station so is ideal to get to. On arrival we were greeted with champagne, and told to expect a few things from the food menu to try. It's a bar and restaurant, and feels welcoming with an open plan design, high ceiling and neutral colour palette. There's an enticing cocktail menu, and they also offer a selection of craft beers and fine wines - if you like a tipple or two! I'm sensible so had a cranberry and lime which was refreshing and tasty, though there is a selection of non alcoholic cocktails too if you fancy something a bit more snazzy! On the tables we were given huge olives, macademia nuts and popcorn to graze on, whilst socialising with the other guests. I'm coeliac so was unsure what i could i eat, but the manager came over and spoke to me personally about the things i could and couldn't have, which was mega helpful of him! Canapes and food boards were shared out, though there wasn't much i could have due to things being coated in breadcrumbs or flour, so the chefs made me some gluten free bits which were amazing! I had scallops, which were cooked so beautifully and just melted in my mouth, then salmon skewers and a mini tuna nicoise salad - so having eaten all of that i definitely recommend the food at Gas Street Social - it was fresh, simple and tasty, as well as being locally sourced. The staff literally could not have been more helpful regarding my allergy, so i was super impressed and grateful! Check out the Gas Street Social site here if your thinking of heading over, it's fab for after work drinks, a lunch out with friends, and if you'ree in party mode at the weekend. Nick and i will be going back soon for more, we loved the buzzing atmosphere, classy character, and refreshing drinks and cuisine!
