The Monday Piece - Origami Flowers

This week's Monday Piece is on origami flowers! I worked at two elementary schools in Tokyo for the full academic year, and absolutely loved it... I was definitely apprehensive at first and had very little prior teaching experience, but after a few days, then weeks, then months,  I got into thr swing of things and had an awesome time! When leaving the schools it's a little tough saying goodbye to the students you've taught for the past year, and lots of classes had pre prepared plays, songs, gifts and origami that they presented to me during my last days at the schools! This bunch of origami flowers was particularly impressive, each flower had a written message from each student in my second grade class, very creative and cute - I love how personal and unique it is :).

The Monday Piece - Vegan Full English Breakfast in Tokyo

This week's Monday Piece is on vegan full English breakfast in Tokyo! Yes I know that Japanese food is tasty BUT sometimes you need a little home comfort in the form of a delicious fry up. Finding vegan or gluten free suitable breakfasts is extra tricky in Tokyo as most places either do a Japanese breakfast that consists of fish and rice, or pancakes... Thankfully Captain Cook have a number of vegan/gluten free/meat options for breakfast that taste SO good and are reasonably priced - whether you fancy a fry up, eggs Benedict, granola or waffles (and more) they've got you covered. I've mentioned Captain Cook in the Azabu area before and each time I go it gets better... I absolutely reccomed it!

The Monday Piece - The Tokyo Marathon 2019

This week's Monday Piece is on The Tokyo Marathon 2019! The marathon here is a pretty big deal and an event that many Japanese and gaijin look forward to, the entrance lottery is so tight though and mega difficult if you're a Japanese citizen - as Nick put himself down as a foreigner somehow he got through the lottery and bagged himself a place! So for the last 4 months he's been training like a dog, and on Sunday we finally got to go to the marathon for the main event. He did an awesome time in some very chilly and wet weather - the atmosphere was amazing and of course I'm super proud of what he achieved, check out the photos below of the expo and marathon day. If you're a keen runner or fancy a challenge then the Tokyo Marathon is an event for you :).
