The Monday Piece - Sydney Snapshot

This week's Monday Piece is on Sydney Snapshot! It was Nick's birthday on Friday so we celebrated with a long weekend in Sydney - it's been a manic few days so I wanted to pop up this picture to show just a snippet of what we've been up to. We stayed in Potts Point which is pretty central to everything so we've been strolling the sights and had an amazing time being tourists! Here's a quick snap from the weekend with one of the most iconic landmarks in Sydney, the Sydney Opera House, which in real life is just as awesome as you'd expect! We took this photo on the ferry after a trip to Manly beach, Sydney is eye catching from all angles as it's surrounded by blue waters, skyscrapers and lush bright geeen forest too so everywhere you look there's something new to take in. I'll get a post up soon if my top things to see and do in Sydney as it's such a diverse city that is full of energy and excitement, as well as chilled out beaches ideal for relaxing - there's something for everyone :).

Vintage Levi Shorts

I picked up these vintage Levi shorts in a boutique in Burleigh a while ago and have worn them heaps since! All the shop sells is vintage Levi shorts and jackets in all different shapes and shades of blue, black and grey so there's always a pair that you'll fall in love with. I've worn them with an oversized Zara shirt and my new nude shoes from Wittner which I totally adore, the suede is buttery soft and the neutral shade can be worn with everything making them ultra versatile. I've been after a pair of round sunnies for a while, thankfully Glasses Shop have seriously come up with the goods with this green/blue mirrored pair which look amazing and are so light and comfortable. Also loving the monogram clutch bag from the ultimate accessory babes at Johnny Loves Rosie - you can choose the colour of the clutch then you get two sets of letters to personalise your clutch with making it unique to you - it comes with a strap too so you can wear it as a shoulder or cross body bag. I'm the Johnny Loves Rosie blogger of the month so head to their website to see my top picks for this Summer, their accessories are always so good and I love that you can get such a selection of different pieces to add that finishing touch to your outfit!

The Monday Piece - Capture Tuscan Style, Shopping In Tuscany

Tuscany is well known for it's stunning landscapes, delicious Italian food, traditions, history and of course...shopping! Whether you're shopping for fashion and accessories to capture the authentic Tuscan style, or tasting the delicious local delicacies, Tuscany has a plethora of open air markets, boutiques, and traditional shops to satisfy your needs. Tuscany is famous for it's historic fashion houses, including Emilio Pucci - synonymous with geometric prints in a kaleidoscope of colors, i've featured below a full set of beautiful Pucci pieces. The full length pink dress would look right at home on a Tuscan holiday whilst eating a classic fresh Panzanella with a glass of deep red wine in hand - i'd pair it with a chic pair of geometric sunglasses and satin sandals, and a golden glow to the skin too. The fringed multicoloured bag is full of fun and colour, it reminds me of strings of spaghetti hanging from the bag which is so very quirky and Tuscan - amore! Gucci, founded by Guccio Gucci in Florence in 1921, is the epitome of Italian style and flair, Gucci employed skilled workers in basic Florentine leather crafts, attentive to finishing, which still resonates with the brand today. The prominent designs feature elaborate, intricate prints, famed worldwide for the superior quality and Tuscan style. The ruffle dress below is ultra feminine and flirty, the bright colours and ruffle design epitomises the fun Tuscan fashion house, i'm also obsessed with Gucci accessories - the blue embroidered handbag with the classic bamboo handle is beautifully designed, i love the practicality of the box style shape and shoulder strap too. All of the stunning pieces reflect Tuscany and the beautiful country of Italy, the bright colours and bold prints are historic in the brands Tuscan roots - capturing the pure essence of Tuscan style.

Fashion designers including Pucci, Gucci and Robert Cavalli, all embrace and continue to transcend the classic Italian fashion vibe coveted by fashion lovers worldwide. The bright colours, patterns and outstanding designs relate to the lush green landscapes and bright blue skies of the Tuscan countryside, and the food too - the traditional fresh food featuring the bold colours of the Italian flag like tomatoes and basil surely would have inspired the country's top designers. Tuscany is full of colour and life, whether you're driving through the lush landscape of the forest green countryside, browsing the historic streets of Florence, or dining out in a traditional Italian restaurant on Pappardelle sulla lepre, Tuscany exudes vibrancy, history and excitement which is reflected within the triumphant fashion houses. I'm desperate to get myself to Tuscany to experience all of it's gloriousness first hand - and also to raid the shops at the designer outlets where you can pick up top Italian designer pieces for a fraction of the price! Shopping in Tuscany looks totally divine, even if you're not looking to splash the cash the 'Tuscan look' is easily achievable on the Italian high street. Someone book me a plane ticket and villa stay asap!

The Monday Piece - Monochrome Star Print

This week's Monday Piece is on monochrome star print! A quick outfit post to share my black and white outfit from last weekend - shirts are some of my most worn pieces as they can be worn with pretty much any bottoms whether it's jeans, a skirt or shorts. I've got a few star print shirts and always go back to them if i'm stuck on what to wear, i've worn this Boohoo style with my Zara white skort and a studded Furla bag that has some tough gold hardware! This weekend we had an extra day off so we made the most of it by heading out and about to the cinema to watch King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword, it was so good and full of action so definitely check it out if that's your thing - we also grabbed takeaway food, coffee, and did a bit of shopping, there are so many sales at the moment so that seemed like a good excuse!

Summer Ruffles

Ruffles and flamenco style pieces have really caught my eye lately, i love the fun styles and they look so feminine and pretty! Layered ruffle skirts add an extra dimension to your look and can be dressed up as much as you like - i fancy going all out with a peplum off the shoulder ruffle top and a pair of knot front heeled mules like the pair below from N.21. If you're not fully committed to the style to spend lots of $$$ then there are lots of high street versions too in all the usual places like Missguided and Topshop, this printed fabric pair are a bargain and look so comfy too! Asymmetric styles also look great with ruffles, i'm spying on this boohoo big sleeved shirt, it looks ultra girly and has so much volume - i'd pair it with some cut off denim shorts and slides for a laid back day time look. The Fendi bag has a little extra fanciness too, plus the light pink leather and silver hardware is ideal for Summer months and finishing off a pretty outfit!

The Monday Piece - Byron Bay

This week's Monday Piece is on Byron Bay! Last weekend we went to Byron Bay for the day, i'd heard so much about it so my expectations were pretty high and i couldn't wait to mooch around and check out the Byron vibe. We hopped off the coach and headed straight for the lighthouse, the most easterly point in Australia - there are a few different walks you can do to get to the lighthouse, Nick decided we'd do the rainforest walk...even though i was wearing studded Kurt Geiger boots - but i embraced it - it's definitely not the kind of walk i'd do again in boots, i definitely needed trainers as it was really sandy plus there were hundreds of giant steps and rocks to clamber over...but we eventually got there and headed to the top to admire the ocean views and dolphins swimming in the sea! It is so beautiful and the air is fresh and crisp, i definitely recommend the rainforest walk too! We then walked the (easier) beach walk back, and found a lunch spot in town - Main Street Burger Bar, where we ate huge a vegan burgers and fries, so tasty.

I was adamant on checking out the famous Byron boutiques, especially SPELL as it's world famous and i've always lusted after their boho designs, it's been moved out of the centre of Byron so it took us a little while to get there - it's now in a larger boutique that is super bright, white and airy, i thought i'd be totally spoiled for choice but sadly that wasn't the case. There was lots of underwear and bridal underwear, plus a few printed raglan sleeved tops, and some 'beachy' type dresses...but that was it, there wasn't anything ultra feminine, vintage style or boho that they're famous for and it was very overpriced. So sadly i left empty handed (i'll be keeping an eye on their website) but i was pleased i had the chance to check it out, to be honest the centre of Byron is full of amazing individual boutiques, SPELL was easy to forget as i was surrounded by stunning boutiques full of the most awesome Aussie brands and vintage rock n roll styles.

The golden beaches and bright blue waters are ideal if you want to hang out by the water, sunbathe and surf, the lifestyle is ultra laid back and people just love life. It's almost like going back in time as people aren't stuck to their phones or iPads, they're chatty and happy to watch the world go by - most people walk the streets with no shoes on! Byron Bay is a must visit if you ever travel Australia, it's full of beautiful scenery and people!

Harper & Me Playsuit

I picked up this little Harper & Me playsuit from a boutique called Blush & Bloo in Byron last weekend, it looks like a dress and is super lightweight and loose so it's really comfortable in the warm weather. It has lace detailing around the top, bottom, and back - although it's a proper playsuit, it's on the verge of being a nightie but i think it looks ok as it is! I've kind of dressed it up for a smart daytime look with my ASOS sandals that i wear all the time, a Prada bag and Chanel sunglasses - the beach is right behind me on these snaps so there's a sea breeze vibe going on... We had a long weekend with an extra day off on Friday so we've been out and about shopping, eating, hunting down new reads in the library, chilling at the beach and exploring the harbour at Southport!
