What I wore today - Yellow and black

It's a fairly miserable day in the Shire today, so Bart Simpson and i are bringing a little yellow sunshine to the world. I've worn this H&M top loads, i love easy t-shirts but am definitely getting fussier about styles and fabrics, i've ordered SO much online recently but have returned the majority of it, very annoying. I'm majorly indecisive too, and will buy something thinking i like it but then change my mind the week after, #girlprobs. Today's look is such a bargain - the shorts are £15 (including delivery), the top is £7.99, shoes £12, hat £15 and necklace £4 = value for money right there! Just a quick one from me today as i have a gazillion things to do! I hope you like my outfit :).

The Monday Piece - Sheer prints

This week's Monday Piece is on sheer prints. Exposing flesh isn't something i'm all that good at, when i was younger it was different, and acceptable, to trot around town in the tiniest of shorts, but now i'm a little older i tend to cover up a fair bit. Crop tops and micro skirts just don't exist in my wardrobe so sheer fabrics make a grown up alternative. This shirt has a crazy print so slightly distracts away from the sheer chiffon - it's from the new Elf Sack range from Choies, which has some super cute stuff! I think sheer prints are also good if you're a little self conscious about your body but still want to add a bit of sassiness to an outfit without covering everything up. Also, i caved and bought the black Joni jeans, oops!
Are you a fan of sheer prints?

New in - Tory Burch Flip Flops

I hope you're enjoying the weekend. Whilst rooting around for shoes a few days ago I realised I didn't have a pair of flip flops or light sandles - I've got a few pairs of chunky sandals, but nothing more suitable for hot weather. I'm a bit weird about feet, so wanted a nice plain pair, I looked on the high street but they all had things stuck to them like gems and flowers so not really my style - I found these on the Tory Burch website, half price in the sale with free delivery so snapped them up! The packaging was so pretty, they arrived boxed, wrapped in shiny orange paper, with a shopping bag, box and tissue paper, also with the invoice and delivery note tucked away in little pouches. I think they're cute to wear with shorts and skinny jeans when my feet need a break from my bulky boots that I'm wearing a lot recently.
What shoes do you wear in Summer?

What I wore today - Black and white stripes

A smarter outfit today! I'm loving white stuff recently, i think it looks so fresh and crisp, i'm quite clumsy and dirty though so white clothing does get ruined easily, oops. Last night i attended some more denim lovers fun at Selfridges with blogger Tahmina, this time in association with Charlie Miller from Grazia magazine. We had some champagne when we arrived at the Denim Studio, and chatted to Sophie Hedley who's head of press at Selfridges - it was interesting to hear about the fashion world from someone who's previously worked at magazines such as Vogue for 10 years, crazy but cool!
I then had my denim consultation with Charlie who was so charming and complimentary, she chose some Paige Jimmy Jimmy jeans for me to try, they're a boyfriend fit with a slim leg - i tried them on and showed Sophie and Charlie who recommended i try them with a strappy open toe heel as i was wearing my chunky cut out boots - Charlie very kindly slipped off her new Tibi Mia heels so i could see what they looked like with the jeans - the shoes definitely pulled the whole look together, thank you Charlie! There's some pictures on my twitter, here.
After this we popped over to the Malibu and ASOS event where i had a little cocktail, chatted to the lovely ASOS girls and browsed the collections, Toni&Guy and Nails inc were also there doing makeovers - anyone can attend this and it's in Birmingham all weekend, it's in the middle of the city opposite Zara so it's easy to find, but you do have to be over 18 due to the alcohol!
I do love trousers and skirts in Summer but still like to wear my leggings from garage, they're so easy with tops, vests and under dresses if its a little chilly - i hope you like the stripes and aztec jeans :).

Vintage Set outfit and pictures

Last night i went to the Vintage Set Festival event at the Custard Factory in Birmingham. The Vintage Set is an asos marketplace store, they sell one off vintage pieces as well as a few new bits, you can check it out here. There were lots of lovely bloggers there, who all looked gorgeous, so it was great to all have a chat about our blogs, the event and other stuff too. There were hay bales to sit on, raffle prizes, goody bags, and pop up shops - i spotted a beaut of a kimono for sale but didn't take any cash with me, rookie mistake. There were also demonstrations from hairdressers, nail artists and Macademia Hair who brushed my hair for me and gave it a little spritz to tame the frizz!
I took a few pictures throughout the night, and myself, Amy, and Jess had a go at taking pictures of each others outfits - Amy wore a little cami top with a pleated skirt, you can see her blog here. Jess wore a sheer spotted maxi skirt and crop top, with an amazing pink satchel, you can see her blog here. I wore a tailored playsuit from Topshop, it's a classic little piece that's slightly different from an LBD, they also have a cream version which i'd snap up if it wasn't sold out. It was a great night, with lots of giggles and fun, if you're a vintage lover you can check out the Vintage Set store here.
I hope you enjoy the photos :).

Nail Art Nail Tattoos

A little bit of nail art today! I always enjoy painting my nails so thought it would be good to jazz it up with some nail art stickers. I have used stickers in the past but found them quite fiddly and they had to be applied whilst the varnish was still tacky, but Nail Art Nail Tattoos can be applied on top of dry varnish - so they're easier to apply and you don't have to worry about getting sticky nail varnish everywhere. To keep the tattoos in place and make them last longer you can pop over a coat of clear polish, i didn't do this and the effect is still good!
The Nail Art stickers come in a pack of 60 and designs include hearts, crosses, anchors and birds -  they can be used with any nail varnish colour, even glitter, and are available to buy in Boots, Urban Outfitters and Skin Art and retail at £5.99. The purple nail varnish i've used is quite matte so gives a smooth, clean finish so the stickers can be easily applied. I've used two coats to create a solid block of colour, this retails for £3.00. I'm pleased with how the stickers and nail varnish turned out, i think it gives a really cute effect, plus the set is value for money which is soemthing i always look for - i hope you like my Nail Art creations! :).

The Monday Piece - Keeping it casual

This weeks's Monday Piece is on casual stuff! I thought it'd be good to show you a slouchy side of my wardrobe as recently things have been quite smart. I love being comfortable and lounging around (sooo lazy), so i tend to shove on some jersey shorts and a little vest to keep things casual. I do feel a bit like a basketball player in this outfit, but i love sporty stuff and am a forever fan of Mel C aka Sporty Spice during the epic Spice Girl years so it's all good in the hood. Other casual things i always stock up on are; oversized plain tops, jersey dresses for when it's hot, and decent black leggings or skinny jeans - all good for lazy days :).
Do you like casual, comfy fashion?

What I wore today - Love asymmetric wrap skirt

I definitely play with my hair waaay too much, oops. I've always loved asymmetric clothing, and i'd seen a few sassy ladies, such as Millie Mackintosh, wearing asymmetric wrap skirts so i went on the hunt to find one. In an ideal world i would have bought the 'original' Helmut Lang version (one of my favourite designers), but alas they were sold out everywhere and a bit pricey. Then i found this one from Love, but again it was sold out in my size, boo! Anyway, i managed to track the Love version down in Topshop, and it was in the sale for £15! The shape is just right and i love the style too, plus it's black so it can be worn with the majority of my monochrome wardrobe. I'll also be wearing it with sandals and tucked in t-shirts! I've just been for a nice drink with my Mum and Sister at the river whilst on my lunch break, getting addicted to the Costa iced drinks i think!
Do you like asymemtric styles?

What I wore today - Zara linen top

I hope you had a good weekend, on Saturday we went to Gloucester, it's only about 30 minutes down the motorway and i'd not been in years, the docks have been regenerated and they had a new shoppping area too so it was nice to mooch around there, i got myself a little something from Topshop with my voucher too! More fedora action today - keeping things chilled out in this linen t-shirt i got in the Zara sale in London for only £7.99, i should have sized down as it's fairly big but i didn't bother to try anything on so it's my own fault, in fact it almost looks like it could be from the boys section but i'm fairly sure it's ladies! I thought the colours would go well with these H&M printed trousers or some black skinny jeans and sandals :).

Selfridges #denimlovers photos

Here are the photos of the Hudson jeans from the Selfridges #denimlovers blogger shoot for the Birmingham Mail. Myself and Natalie (the denim expert) giggled all the way through the photos, you can see my teeth in every picture! I cannot get enough of these jeans, the fit, the style, the colour - you can find them here, definitely an investment piece. I recommend popping into your local Selfridges to have a nosey at the different styles of denim they currenly have, there's a style to suit everyone, plus there's competitions in store, as well as on their Twitter page.
Let me know what you think of the jeans and photographs :).

The Monday Piece - Selfridges #denimlovers blogger photo shoot

This week's Monday Piece is on a Selfridges photo shoot i attended last week. Selfridges have a huge campaign running this Summer, and it's all about denim. If you follow them on Twitter you may have seen the hash tag #denimlovers floating around, fronting the campaign are Brit beauties Jourdan dunn and Rosie Tapner who look nothing less than sensational in their denim styles! I was asked along, with six other Midlands based bloggers, to Selfridges in the Birmingham Bull Ring to take part in a photo shoot for Selfridges and the Birmingham Mail.

I was a little apprehensive as i'd not done anything like this before, when i arrived i was taken to the gallery champagne bar for a little drink with the other bloggers. We were then taken to the plush fitting rooms where our Denim Expert, Natalie, had chosen some styles for us to try on - i loved all 5 styles she had chosen for me, my favourite being a pair of bright blue Hudson Jeans in a distressed style, you can find them here. So after i popped these on i went downstairs to Illamasqua to have my make up done by the lovely Andrea, she kept it very simple and natural (as you may know i only wear a little bit of make up), so it was fab! After this it was time to have the photos taken with the other girls, the photographer Adam was so funny and gave us a little gossip from the fashion world! It was such a fun afternoon, everyone from Selfridges was amazing and made me feel so comfortable and at ease.

I think it's due to go in the Birmingham Mail on the 26th July, i'll be uploading more snaps of the jeans asap so you can see them in all their glory. You can check out the Selfridges #denimlovers campaign here, and they currently have a competition running where you tag yourself on instagram wearing your favourite denim, tag it with #denimlovers and you're in with a chance to win a designer pair of jeans and your picture in the front window of the store!
I thought it would be nice to share some pictures i took on my phone from the day, i hope you like them :).
